While the rocky mountains of New Hampshire may be its most noticeable and famous feature, “The Granite State” is something of a misnomer! New Hampshire is as diverse a state as can be found anywhere in the U.S. It is a state not just of stone and mountains, but a state of hills and valleys, farms and cities, lakes and rivers, beach communities and picture perfect New England villages.
As one of the original 13 states, New Hampshire’s state motto, “Live Free or Die”, certainly reflects the fierce independent streak which runs through their peoples, but the population is justly proud of their heritage and is eager to share their rich history with visitors from all every corner of the world with an openness and warmth rarely found anywhere else. They are the quintessential Americans. Just remember what they say about the crucial New Hampshire primaries – as goes New Hampshire, so goes the country. New Hampshire offers a taste of just about everything “American”.
