As one contemplates THE perfect room, be captivated by these special nuances... Our Story: An odyssey of adventure and romance was set into motion in the summer of 2014 when Tennesseans John and Jeanette Poole serendipitously pondered a passion that neither had previously thought about prior to a life altering venture to Acadia National Park. Once in Bar Harbor they happened upon a beautiful, spacious house that just so happened to be for sale! They both exclaimed what a great B&B this huge house would make. Well, this instantaneous thought conjured a deep impetuous yearn that maybe, just maybe, becoming B&B innkeepers themselves could be a dream possible. Needless to say, the entire return trip to TN proved more thrilling by the mile as they pondered the notion of selling all in TN and moving lock, stock and barrel to ME to put this huge romantic endeavor into serious action. They agreed their ideal B&B had to be in New England, in a quaint town or village, be outdoorsy themed, and have snow as part of the seasonal affect. John & Jeanette settled that Maine would be the venue of choice. On a crispy cold New Year's Day 2015 they arrived in Bethel and set their eyes on the ‘For Sale’ Austin’s Holidae House B&B. Well, it was love at first sight! The village, snow, and ambience were all here. And although realizing the house did need a few cosmetic fixes, it was darn near PERFECT! The rest is history ... the closing on the Holidae House happened on May 21st, 2015 and this 7 guest room B&B opened for business on June 1st. On June 2nd, the first guests arrived.

Rediscover a simpler way of life during your stay. While maintaining the building’s historic pedigree, we’ve been careful not to add too much modern clutter. While we did install powerful high-speed Internet connectivity, as well as TVs and phones, the big benefit of this place is the serenity that comes from living quietly with nature. It is hard to spend a day here and not be struck by the beauty of the surrounding environment. Visit Kingfield in the winter to ski Sugarloaf and Saddleback, snowmobile directly from our back yard to the Black Fly Loop, which connects to hundreds of miles of scenic trails, or find a winter wonderland snowshoeing atop the Bigelow Mountains. When you return to the Inn, cozy up in front of the glowing fireplace with a warm beverage. The spring, summer and fall bring even more opportunities to explore Kingfield and Western Maine. Hike along the magnificent, newly developed Maine Huts and Trails system or follow the scenic routes of the Appalachian Trail through the Bigelow Preserve toward Mt. Katahdin. Raft down the roaring rapids of the Kennebec River, or fly-fish on the banks of the Dead River. It is said the best trout fishing in the area is from our bend in the river, just behind the inn. Paddle around nearby Flagstaff Lake or take a dip in the cool waters of the Carrabasset River. Bring your ATV and connect directly from our parking lot to miles of trails. The Inn on Winter’s Hill was originally built as a romantic gesture; the original owner, Amos Winter Sr., built the property as a wedding gift for his wife Julia. The beautiful indoor spaces and outdoor tent space can accommodate intimate gatherings or grand receptions. Our distinctive venue is the perfect setting for an elegant wedding laced with historic charm. Our size is just right for couples that want to rent the whole facility for the luxury of having only your friends and family around. We cooperate with the other three inns in town if you need to house a larger group.
