Welcome to Block Island and The Narragansett Inn! Whether you are planning a vacation here for the first time, or coming back to see us we hope you enjoy your visit and stay with us.

Block Island is unique today for its quiet beauty, natural peacefulness, and nostalgic and homelike past. The island is 7 miles long and 3.5 miles wide. First discovered by the French in 1524 and later by the Dutch in 1614, it was finally settled by the English in 1661. They found it inhabited by a tribe of the Narragansett Indians who called it the “Isle of the Little God.” Block Island legends run through generations of seafaring people with every rock and shoal tinged with their history. The Narragansett Inn stands on the shores of the Great Salt Pond with its marinas, restaurants and shops. Our wide veranda and lawns offer spectacular views of the beautiful New Harbor. Our rooms are airy and clean. The public rooms are a mixture of the modern and the colonial, producing an atmosphere that is friendly and informal. Our sunset lounge provides the place for a leisurely drink or conversation. For your relaxation and enjoyment, Block Island has beaches that are unmatched along the East Coast. In addition to the excellent swimming, you may chose to partake of bird-watching, hiking, boating, fishing, sun-bathing, shopping or bicycling as a pastime. Staying at the Narragansett Inn is an opportunity to escape the pressures and tensions of daily life, and to slip back in the past for a wonderful moment of carefree relaxation. We hope that you will join our many guests who return year after year.
