Civil War Walking Tour of Valley Cemetery
October 18, 2009 - This walking tour of Valley Cemetery will commemorate one of the most definitive and monumental eras in our nation's history, the Civil War. Local historian and re-enactor Vinnie Toland, Jr., will lead the tour group to the gravesites of Civil War veterans buried at Valley Cemetery. Toland, dressed in period uniform of the 5th New Hampshire Volunteers, will share the stories he has uncovered about these men. Mile of Mills Walking Tour
Saturday, October 10, 2009 - Walk the entire Amoskeag Manufacturing Company Millyard with local historian Robert Perreault and Aurore Eaton, Executive Director of the Manchester Historic Association. This program will honor the people who have lived and worked along the banks of the Merrimack in Manchester. These include the Penacook Indians who fished at Amoskeag Falls, the early European settlers, and the many thousands of mill workers who toiled in the mile of brick factories along the river. Lunch will be provided at the Millyard Museum at the end of the walk. Pre-registration is required by calling 603-622-7531. $15 MHA members, $20 non-member

Walking Tour of the Franco-American West Side
September 13 - Local historian Robert B. Perreault will lead this tour that has become a perennial favorite with Manchester residents. Perreault brings his unique perspective and shares his deep knowledge of the history and culture of the Franco-Americans of Manchester. The walk takes the participants into the heart of a neighborhood that was once largely made up of French Canadian immigrants. Pre-registration is required. $5 MHA members, $10 non-members.

Walking Tour of the Millyard
September 12 - Hear the story of the famous Amoskeag Manufacturing Company and how it built Manchester's "mile of mills" on the banks of the Merrimack River. This is a story of industrial genius in the production of textiles, steam locomotives, and steam fire engines, and Civil War rifles. The tour will also explore the architecture of the millyard, and the lives of the workers who toiled there. The tour will be led by Aurore Eaton, Executive Director of the Manchester Historic Association. Pre-registration is required.

Worker's Housing Walking Tour
September 26 , 2009 This walk looks at the lives of the mill workers of the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company, many of whom lived in the rows of sturdy brick workers housing east of Canal Street. The architecture of this largest collection of 19th century workers housing in North American will be explored. The tour will be led by Aurore Eaton, Executive Director of the Manchester Historic Association. Pre-registration is required by calling 603-622-7531. $5 MHA members, $10 non-members.
