North Shore
There are 30 miles of coastline leading from Boston up to the New Hampshire border. For a relaxing escape, travel up historic Route 1, stopping to visit one of the great sandy beaches, the historic fishing villages or the great marinas. Stop for lunch or dinner in the town where the catch just came in off the boat. Make sure to visit Salem, home to one of the greatest tragedies in American history, the great witch hunt and trials. There is a museum devoted to the era, magic and regional history that is like nothing available anywhere else. Salem is also home to the House of the Seven Gables - the home of Nathaniel Hawthorne.
