RHODE ISLAND -SOUTH COUNTY
| Last but not least, we have South County - THE
reason to visit Rhode Island in the summer. But
let's get something straight first, especially if
you're dealing with a travel agent from another
part of the country. (If your doing it yourself
and calling Rhode Island, every will know what you're
talking about.) "South County" is not
one of Rhode Island's five counties (they are Providence,
Kent, Bristol, Newport and Richmond counties). Instead,
it's the way Rhode Islanders refer to the southwestern
portion of the state's seacoast, from the southern
section of Kent County at historic Wickford Village
in the town of North Kingstown through the resort
town of Narragansett and down to the ocean community
of Westerly on the Atlantic shore near the Connecticut
border. |
Over 100 miles of pristine beaches...need we
say more?

If Newport was "the playground of the rich",
then the area centered around the Town of Narragansett
was the playground to everyone else.
South County is picture-perfect, microcosmic, convenient
way to have the best of everything Rhode Island and
the Atlantic coast has to offer. There's something for
everyone and the price range will fit any budget.
Summer by the sea has never been better than in "South
County".
